LOVE LIKE JESUS
From the very words of Jesus, we could see that Love is more than a thing of the heart, Loving God encompasses both the heart, the soul and the mind. Love is commitment of the whole entity of man (spirit, soul and body).
"Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets." (Matthew 23:37-40)
It is crystal clear that Jesus never misses Word, His emphasis on Love remains constant, He emphasis Love as the greatest. This depict that Love is the highest focus and values in the kingdom. The text was a response from Jesus to His disciples as He was asked "what is the greatest law in the kingdom"
However, having established in the previous post about the focus of the Love of Jesus, it is pertinent i make mention here that, Jesus not only demonstrated the love of God, He also demonstrated how to proof our Love for Him, and that is through Loving the welfare of His sheep, Feeding His people, bringing them into spiritual nourishment, coming to an intimate knowledge of Him.
"He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep." (John 21:17)
HOW DO WE LOVE LIKE JESUS?
To Love like Jesus, we must study the person and ministry of Jesus, observing and living after His manner of life. In the scriptures, we can see clearly how Jesus walked in Love. The following are some guide to Loving like Jesus;
- Loving what He Loves.
- Hating what He hates.
- Doing what He commanded us to do.
- Be passionate about what He was passionate about.
- Living like Him.
Your deep Love for Jesus will be demonstrated on the above listed things. You may not be able to love people, but you can't Love Jesus and not genuinely Love His people.
