JESUS AND THE KINGDOM #3 "THE PARABLE OF THE HIDDEN TREASURE"

JESUS AND THE KINGDOM #3

"THE PARABLE OF THE HIDDEN TREASURE"

Lets examine some of the Parables Jesus uses in describing the operations/system of the kingdom of Heaven, and their interpretations.

In (Matthew 13:44), Jesus said: "Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field."

Here we have Israel's (God's chosen people) as part in the Kingdom. They are like a treasure. "For the Lord hath chosen Jacob unto himself, and Israel for his peculiar treasure." (Psalm 135:4). She is like a treasure hid (i.e. lying dormant and failing to fulfill her calling. Romans 9-11)

The field is the world, while the Man is Christ seeking the treasure (John 1:11-12), Matthew 23:37-39). He (Christ) joyfully gives His all to buy the field to get the treasure and all else in the field. The treasure, though found, yet remains hidden in the world until Christ comes to take possession of it at His second coming.

Other Scripture References: (Romans 11:25-29; Luke 21:24; 1:32-33; Isaiah 9:6-7)
