JESUS AND HOPE #6
"JESUS, OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS"
Jesus is not just a Savior, Redeemer, or Wisdom of God, He is our Righteousness. In today's Word-Drill, lets examine and appreciate the following;
- God had done for us In Christ Jesus
- The very GIFT: life and nature of God in us
- How to deal with sin consciousness, guilt, condemnation, worthlessness...
UNDERSTANDING RIGHTEOUSNESS
- Righteousness is not a 'Philosophy' (i.e. reasoning that leads to self guilt, inferiority, failure, weakness, sense of unworthiness.
- Righteousness is not a sense knowledge seeking a way of escape, freedom, liberty, by way of pleasing or getting God attention.
What is Righteousness?
- Righteousness is the quality or state of being:
- "Righteous" (morally right or upright)
- "Just" (to be right
- "Justified" (to declared innocent or guiltless)
- Righteousness is about alignment to a set or laid- standard (divine standard). Jesus is our standard. He died so we can fit into divine standard.
The Determinate (i.e. settled, definitely known) counsel of God was to make Jesus a sin for us thereby eternally uniting humanity with divinity. On this note, we are made the Righteousness of God in Christ Jesus
"For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him." (2 Cor. 5:21)
RIGHTEOUSNESS IS THE ABILITY TO STAND IN THE PRESENCE OF THE FATHER GOD WITHOUT THE SENSE OF GUILT OR INFERIORITY.
Jesus satisfied the claims of divine justice as our substitute.
RIGHTEOUSNESS IS THE EXCHANGE OF OUR OLD LIFE WITH NEW LIFE IN CHRIST JESUS "And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness." (Ephesians 4:24)"
"Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." (2 Cor. 5:17)
"But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:" (1 Cor. 1:30)
Having gone through the above Scriptures, it is important we therefore maximize the provision of Righteousness Jesus had made for us, this we do by faith in Him.
"Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing. For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law. Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace. For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith." (Galatians 5:1-5)
