THE FAITH OF JESUS #6
"THE SENSE KNOWLEDGE FAITH"
Today, we examine a type of faith that is erroneously misunderstood as the Faith we have been examining in this month series. "The Sense Knowledge Faith". We shall relate with that fact that "you can have doubts in your head and still have faith in your heart.
The sense knowledge faith is that faith that is built on the five senses:
- Sight: it is a faith base on what can be seen
- Smell: It is a faith that is focuses on what one feels or smells.
- Touch: it is also base on what can be touched
- Earring: sense knowledge faith is a 'earring before believing kind of faith'
- Taste: this kind of faith is also triggered by what can be tasted
From the above points, you will agree with me that these were factors that drove the faith of some people in Scriptures and in this present age. This kind of Faith thrives on 'signs' and 'wonders' before they believe anything (John 6:30).
One person that lived in this realm of faith was Thomas... (Doubting Thomas, as we often calls him), lets carefully read this (John 20:24-29), which says:
"Now Thomas, called the Twin, one of the twelve, was not with them when Jesus came. The other disciples therefore said to him, “We have seen the Lord.” So he said to them, “Unless I see in His hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and put my hand into His side, I will not believe.” (John 20:24-25)
That was Thomas stand, that until he sees (the five senses evidence), before he can believe. I like what happened eight days later when Jesus eventually appeared to them (Thomas inclusive), this was what Jesus said:
“...Peace to you!” Then He said to Thomas, “Reach your finger here, and look at My hands; and reach your hand here, and put it into My side. Do not be unbelieving, but believing.” And Thomas answered and said to Him, “My Lord and my God!” Jesus said to him, “Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” (John 20:26-29 NKJV)
We can see that after the revelation of Jesus, Thomas was now willing to believe.
Real Faith is not in what we can see and hear, but on what God says in His Word, Real Faith says; "IF GODS WORD SAYS IT IS SO, THEN IT IS SO!" Faith always agrees with the Now even if I can't see it. Touch it, feel it, smell it, hear it or taste it, for Faith my Faith in Jesus, The Word.
